Nantucket Island scores at Kembla Grange

Hawkesbury trainer Ed Cummings posted his third win since returning to his former base when Nantucket Island ($6.50) scored at Kembla Grange yesterday.

Ridden by Lee Magorrian, Nantucket Island defeated well backed Devine Outcast ($6.50) and leading Hawkesbury trainer Brad Widdup’s $3.30 favorite Tequisoda in the Provincial Benchmark 64 Handicap (1400m).

A five-year-old daughter of American Pharoah, Nantucket Island was purchased by Cummings for $200,000 at the 2022 Magic Millions Gold Coast yearling sale.

She has quickly shown a liking for Kembla Grange with both of her wins since a lengthy break being record there.

Her only “blemish” in three runs this preparation was forgiveable when she struck a heavy track at Rosehill Gardens on October 29.
